about blue

Argyle Blue Diamonds

  • Argyle Blue Diamonds come from the Argyle Diamond Mine in Western Australia, which is owned by Rio Tinto. The mine is known for producing over 90 percent of the world’s rare Natural Pink Diamonds (including Reds). On extremely rare occasions, Natural Blue Argyle Diamonds are discovered.
  • According to officials at Rio Tinto, “These exquisite diamonds are so rare that less than an entire year’s worth of Argyle Pink diamonds over half a carat would fit in the palm of your hand, while the blue and violet diamonds would barely fill a teaspoon.”
  • Each year the very best of these polished Argyle Diamonds are sold at the Argyle Pink Diamond Tender, the world’s most exclusive international diamond auction.
  • The Argyle Mine is expected to cease production by the end of this decade.

Two of the world’s rarest diamonds, discovered years apart in Australia’s legendary Argyle Mine, are now reunited in one magnificent ring. Behold Twin Hearts: a 0.78-carat Fancy Deep Bluish Violet Diamond (VS) and a 0.75-carat Fancy Red Diamond (SI). Total: 1.53 carats. While each is extraordinarily rare on its own, a pair so well matched in size and shape is incomparable.
